Adventure loving hubby and I have long loved New York, but decided to test some new waters. Could Chicago be the more accessible, and friendlier version of the big city that we already love? We decided to travel to Chicago in May to avoid the frigid temps of winter and before it became a humid sauna in the summer. We timed our trip just right, as every 10 minutes the weather was something new. We had beautiful sun, torrential rain and even a tornado warning, but despite the fact that my curly hair just got frizzier and frizzier the longer we stayed, by packing everything from a light dress to a long rain jacket, we enjoyed every day.
Chicago is a huge city with so many of the features that you would expect, excellent museums and food. Great shopping. A jam-packed subway/elevated transit system and LONG distances between boroughs. And indeed, the people that we encountered were universally friendly and excited to share their city with us.
